Jack White hinting at possible release of JAy-Z collab???

Postby Jawsh » Sun Apr 29, 2012 4:10 am

Okay I might be looking to deep into this....but knowing Jack's style maybe not.......Jack White during the AMEX Unstaged show while playing Cut Like a Buffalo...he covered Kanye West & Jay Z - No Church in the Wild during the middle of the song.

Jack White and Jay-Z recorded Ray Bans back together in 2009 and they've been holding onto it......now that Jack has gone solo now would be a good time to release it to draw attention to his solo career.......what do you guys think? My prediction is that it is going to be dropped between August-September 2012.....anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Actually, if you want to get technical, he covered Frank Ocean. He wrote that hook and performs it himself in the song. I guess after Bonnaroo 08 I hate to see Kanye get credit or positive recognition for anything, especially something he didn't do.

But I think Jack put that in there for a couple of reasons. I think he liked the lyrics and wanted to tip the proverbial hat in their direction. But I think you may be on to something. He does like to drop hints like that. I remember him being on the Vault before last year's RSD and telling us that it would be "killer". Of course he was hinting at Jerry Lee Lewis performing. So, if it's a hint, it may be towards something very loosely related. But like usual, most of us will have to wait until after the fact to slap ourselves in the head in realization of what he meant.

Either way, I thought it fit well and was a nice surprise.
Has everything you said today been true?

In his NY Times interview he mentioned he was no longer religious.....and he is singing "what is a king to a god and what is god to an unbeliever"......seems to me he is nodding to skepticism/atheism/agnosticism

Not a big deal if he is......I just find it an interesting peak into the progression of Mr. White's career

i caught that too and was actually listening to those tracks just the other day... when i heard it in the show i was a little floored that it was such an overt reference which was escaping me and i had to ignore the urge to go look it up as a part of trying desperately to recall exactly where those lines came from ...

Please stop sending people whose posts you don't like over to the Little Room. Not everyone over there is a freak, there are more collectors in that bunch than there were a year ago and there's actually some very good conversation and a whole lot of very generous, considerate, and normal people.

And for the record, I've not yet started an iso/fs/ft thread.

You must already have a hook up in Nashville or you're just in this for the music and not the money. Whatever.

Kidding, you know that, right? :)

I have worked a deal with Grimtale for a component of a Vault package I'd missed and as of today I'm also the proud owner of a non-leaking LFR (which a lovely friend brought back for me for cost plus lunch and coffee). Is that enough to redeem me?

And, yeah, I'm one of those weirdos who's in it for the music ;)

i would say that you do have an iso list floating around and all your gracious lists of who is generous and who is normal and who doesnt fit into your plan are clearly about these lists you have set some personal investment towards... it may be about the music in your mind but from what i know about the music and your understanding of it there is more on your list about the conquest and the subjugation of a people

its just untoward the likes of being an honest person to pride yourself on cultivating appearances as opposed to genuine character development

We don't do "gossip" round these parts. Who Jacks dating, what kind of food he likes, whether he believes in God, top 10 reason to like the white stripes. Sure people are normal over there but I sure as fuck don't want it to be here that's the reason why I'm here.
