Pretty damned cool.A Nashville high school is starting its own music label.
The Tennessean reports (http://tnne.ws/ZRk8FI) Pearl-Cohn Entertainment Magnet High School unveiled a new $1.2 million recording studio on Wednesday. The label will be available for students across Metro Nashville to record songs.
Students will operate the label just like the corporate model, with profits going toward music education.
John Esposito, president and CEO of Warner Music Nashville, said Pearl-Cohn is the first school in the nation to house a student-run label affiliated with a major record label.
Mayor Karl Dean said the studio takes Nashville one step closer to accomplishing his goal of having a world-class music education program.
The studio was financed with school district funds, a federal grant and donations from music industry professionals.

"And the message is clear: if we want Jack White as our hero, he will entertain, but not pander. We have to accept all his flaws, whims, caprices and manias as a critical, sometimes uncomfortable, part of the contract."

Re: Nashville high school has its own record label
hmm, to me it would make more sense for that to go to the arts high school.
plus, I went to two high schools in Nashville and both already had recording studios
hope the studio on this one tops the others, and the schools recording program itself...
