Saw that this morning. I felt the same that when I visited the Blues Museum in Clarksdale and saw all the Robert Plant founding, the kind of feeling that they were doing something right, honouring the past to preserve it in the future. Kudos to that.

Jack is scheduled to receive a new award from the Music Business Association--  http://www.radioandmusic.com/entertainm ... 015-150506

Jack White will receive the Music Business Association's (Music Biz) inaugural Innovator Award for his achievement with his latest album Lazaretto and the vinyl ULTRA LP, an exceptional work that uniquely marries classic art and current technology. The Award will be presented during the Music Biz 2015 Business Session on 13th May at 8.30 am at the Sheraton Nashville Downtown Hotel in Nashville.

Released on June 10, 2014, Lazaretto debuted at #1 on the U.S. albums chart, and not only broke the record for biggest selling first-week vinyl album sales with over 40,000 copies sold in the U.S., the Lazaretto vinyl ULTRA LP was also the biggest selling vinyl album of 2014 and any year of the Sound Scan era with 86,707 copies sold in the U.S. The innovative Lazaretto ULTRA LP features a hand-etched hologram by Tristan Duke of Infinity Light Science (the first of its kind on a vinyl record), two hidden tracks hidden beneath the center labels that each play at different speeds (which also makes this a 3-speed record), dual-groove technology with different electric and acoustic intros for'Just One Drink' depending on where the needle is dropped, locked grooves, matte finish on Side B, and more. To date, the Lazaretto ULTRA LP has sold over 185,000 copies worldwide. The album was nominated for a GRAMMY Award in the Best Alternative Music Album category, and the title track 'Lazaretto' won the Grammy for Best Rock Performance. The track was also nominated for Best Rock Song.

"We are so pleased to recognize Jack White's groundbreaking success with Lazaretto," said Music Biz president James Donio. "From the floating holograms, to the varied intros, to the surprising needle drops, to the locked groove, to the hidden content, to the multiple playing speeds, he has unquestionably brought new musical life to the world of vinyl."
"And the message is clear: if we want Jack White as our hero, he will entertain, but not pander. We have to accept all his flaws, whims, caprices and manias as a critical, sometimes uncomfortable, part of the contract."

They should award the prize for "hardest record to listen to" to Lazaretto. I think I've only listened to it once on Vinyl and I put the needle in the wrong spot. listening to silence instead of music is a bit annoying.

Dave Grohl's Orthopedic Surgeon got up on stage and sang Seven Nation Army with the Foo Fighters! Pretty awesome to see a Surgeon jumping around on stage and sounding half decent too.

Saw that this morning in my news feed. Aside from the thought that his opinion has absolutely no bearing on my own, I didn't think anything else of it.

His writing skills suck worse than mine.
Did he graduate from high school ?
How did he get a job as a writer?

Other than that I do agree that Neil Young sounded like it was recorded in a phone booth.

Click on the author's name and look at ihs other stories. I think "Unpopular Opinion: If You Don't Like the Goo Goo Dolls, You're Kind of an Idiot" sounds like work of a writer that I'd respect the hell out of!
