I got a poster.

Wish Jack would do something like releasing the tracks for editing. Listening to the whole record I got the urge to remix it, and I don't even know anything about remixing.

Gabby won a tote. I won a poster. I picked the winning name for the bastard who won the tri. It’s probably on eBay now.

I went to the listening party at shuga's in Chicago. I have not been that impressed with the songs from this album, but hearing it on vinyl made it sound warmer and made it more interesting. There are a lot of cool sounds that I didn't notice on the track before hearing it 'in person'. It's definitely full of non-sequitors and off the wall. My friend said it sounded like what he imagined it must be like to be inside Jack's brain. Overall, I'm MUCH more excited now to dig into it.

It was fun to hear things from that mashup Jack released a couple months ago popping out in different songs. Together, it makes more sense than the singles do, but I am thinking it's gonna be one that a lot of people are not going to love. That's cool with me though. Lean into the weird.

ALSO. Shuga's wouldn't raffle off ANYTHING - they said that their instructions from Third Man said they couldn't raffle off even the silly tote bag until March 23rd. So, that kind of sucked. I got a button tho. I'm sure I will treasure it forever.

But, other than that, fun night and I'm excited to spend more time with this album and see if it continues to grow on me.

I don’t like music reviews. I don’t write them and I don’t read them. I don’t give a shit what other people think of an album. That is the beauty of music. Everyone has different emotions and reactions to it. Why would I want to ruin someone else’s experience by posting my opinions, good or bad?

Gah. I skipped the local listening event to keep with the release day blackout. The streak continues.

It was as bad as I expected. Respect is the only track I’ve found wanting to listen to a second time.

Damn. Oh well. Dude has 10 albums I love and spin all the time:

The White Stripes - Self-titled
The White Stripes - De Stijl
The White Stripes - White Blood Cells
The White Stripes - Elephant
The White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan
The White Stripes - Icky Thump
The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers
The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely
The Dead Weather - Horehound
The Dead Weather - Sea of Cowards

And 3 albums I mostly enjoy and spin occasionally:

The Dead Weather - Dodge and Burn
Jack White - Blunderbuss
Jack White - Lazaretto

Aside from the Beatles (and their subsequent solo work) no other artist spends so much time on my turntable. So if I don't like this one it's all good. It's not a tragedy. And I'll still be here for the next one. Whatevah.

Hi ppl,

Haven't been around here for a while, to avoid the temptation on spending so much $$$.
But I'm still a bit fan and love the new music. I went to the listening party in Madrid, Spain (living here now) and was lucky enough to win the tri, my first tri apart from the vault 7 one. And I'm curious to ask if anyone on here has one too? And while we are at it have you had the guts to drop the needle under the label? I'm pretty sure there is a hidden track under there and I'm curious as hell but don't dare to play it there.

Oh and can anyone hook me up with a Connected by Love tri? As I have one now I have GAS for all current and future of this album.

Here is a flashy photo, can you see the grooves under the label?
