I have a clear and opaque as well. The clear is more orange and the opaque is a pastel yellowdestijl wrote:Has anyone noticed that there are two versions of the single (not including the lace). I have an OPAQUE YELLOW marble and a CLEAR YELLOW with wisps of white. The opaque doesn't look like a clear version with more white added.

For anyone interested in the posters... the Richard Goodall Gallery is having a 60% off sale right now and I stumbled across these KE posters for sale.
Each is normally £30, but on sale right now for £12.

Listened to it in the car on the way in to work, meh. The vocals sound buried in the mix and are almost hard to understand at times. I know someone will shoot me for this one, but I prefer the Hole cover over the Karen cover on this one. Karen's version is definately more in the vein of the original, but not different enough to set it apart as a good cover.

I always enjoyed Hole's cover of this song as well. I like Fleetwood Mac too, so I'm looking very forward to this entire album. Can't wait to hear Karen's version!

That was my first impression, too - that it was not bold enough, not different enough from the original. But that was mainly the first part of the song. If you listen again, it really does pick up and start going places after the three-minute mark.rsimms3 wrote:Listened to it in the car on the way in to work, meh. It has a strong finish, I would say. It didn't really grab my attention at the beginning, though. I think it might have been stronger if they (Karen and Beck and whoever) had gotten bolder and more creative right from the start. Maybe kick it off with something slow and soft and breathy, more haunted and spooky, with more echo or reverb or something. And slowly build up to the crescendo of wildness in the second half of the song. ( I would have been happy to hear an even more wild and cacophanous finish to it, too. I'm thinking how a piece like Bolero can start off so slow and subtle and sinuous, and by the time it's done it's got a crashing aural apocalypse going on in all directions.) Over all, it's a good cover; and it's probably more important to have a strong ending than a strong beginning. But I guess I was hoping for something more haunted and moody from the start, with more of Karen's distinctive ghostly touch.
I do think she's very talented, and maybe if she were more willing to get loose and take crazy chances with the song she might come up with a version that was totally unique and all her own. I would say this is almost that, but not quite. Then again, maybe this turned out just exactly the way she wanted it to. It might just be that my own expectations for a cover version were so different, that it colored the way that I heard it. In general, though, I think the one rule of doing a cover song should be just that: Do Something Completely Different. That's why I'm always eager to hear Jack White's cover versions of other artists' songs: because I've never yet heard him do a song the same way that anyone else does it.

I agree, not a huge fan of this. I love the Hole cover though.rsimms3 wrote:Listened to it in the car on the way in to work, meh. Anyone see Karen on the Closing Ceremonies of the Olympics last night? It was a weird part, but it was cool to see her. I can't believe NBC cut Muse though. Total B.S.

I did catch that. I was on here and noticed the large post of photos showing all the different covers for the vault package and clicked the link to mess around on the TMR site with them and then look up and saw her on the closing ceremonies..curseofhalos wrote:Anyone see Karen on the Closing Ceremonies of the Olympics last night? Karen's set was short but very sweet. Rachelle Garniez played accordion and sang beautiful harmonies. Some standouts were The Ghost Who Walks and Long Black Veil. Even better - they had lace 7"s for $6 and peach LPs for $20! Booyah!
Hyperbole used for effect!
