Elvis Presley 1st Single - RSD 2015 TMR-307

Post by maxman142001 »

Looks like Billboard has confirmed that TMR will be releasing the first single by Elvis on RSD this year. Featuring covers of the 1930s ballads "My Happiness" and "That's When Your Heartaches Begin".

Billboard is both analog and digital.

So the original Elvis record was a 10". Does that mean this will be TMR's first 10" release? And Jack paid $300k for the record itself-- I can't help but be curious how much he had to pay for the rights to reissue it. I lovelovelove how we reap the benefits of his spending.
"And the message is clear: if we want Jack White as our hero, he will entertain, but not pander. We have to accept all his flaws, whims, caprices and manias as a critical, sometimes uncomfortable, part of the contract."

1. Not the first TMR 10"
2. I think (not positive) the '$300,000 it cost him to buy it would cover the reproduction rights. Since that was the master / only copy.

What is TMR's other 10"?

Here's a link to Edwin Leek's memories of Elvis, high school, and making the record from their graduation class page. Mr Leek's comments are near the bottom.

Second 10" pressed, first one released to the general public for sale, whatever.

The Paramount one was sold online bundled with the Vol. Box Set.....and we don't know the the Elvis one will be a general public sale or not yet....

My guess (which are normally wrong):
Regular 45 rpm version will be sold on RSD at participating stores.
78 RPM variant will be sold at TMR in Nashville.

Sometimes I agree with your nitpicking, Ben, and sometimes you really do suck the fun and excitement out of things.

I love the description of Jack's hand shaking as he dropped the needle on the record.
