King Tuff

Post by cmelo »

Props to 2crazikids for hepping me to someone from my own state. Saw him Friday night -- **MAJOR, MAJOR FUN** (also major, MAJOR LOUD! whoop!). CD is fun, but this is someone to see live -- whole band is a gas. Like a punk/surfer band/T.Rex smoothie. I grinned like a fool through the entire thing. (PS -- He's also a really, really nice guy. Which is how we grow 'em here.)

Nashvillains, he's playing there w/Natural Child on 7/12. And if anyone else sees them w/Habibi opening, FYI -- the Habibi drummer is not to be believed. She's a freakin' animal. Amazing. And other opener GapDream also really good fun. (PS -- What's with people not supporting openers? Jeez...peeps should show 'em a little love.)

And still doesn't nearly do him justice but best I could find online....

Glad that Nashville show is on a Thursday. Which means there is a good chance I'll be able to make it.

I am so glad you went to this and I am so glad he's going to play TMR. All my favorite things are coming together. Sigh....

Not sure if anyone here is interested but, you can now buy a CDR re-issue of King Tuff's first album "Mindblow." This is pre "Was Dead" material, all recorded by KT himself. Originally only released as a handmade CDR (100 made). It has a lot of the same tracks on it, but with different versions/takes. This is a must for any KT fans, heres the link...

No problem, I have been trying to track down an original Mindblow for a while now with out any luck...so I was pretty happy when I found out they reissued it

Yeah King Tuff rocks, saw him a few weeks ago when he was in town. Puts on a great live show, tons of energy and he is a killer guitar player. Also heard his new S/T album recently knocked Blunderbuss out of some CMJ charts

Cant wait to hear the TMR live also, would love a BB copy of it...

Way underrated in my opinion, and definitely worth your time.

And from Kyle's hometown of Brattleboro VT. Got the skinny on this last time I was down there. Also on the Spirit of Orr site, the Witch "Local Band Nightmare" DVD, with Kyle pre-King Tuff, and J Mascis (playing drums), among others.

Yeah thats pretty sweet...I know he likes to draw a lot, I think he did all the artwork from his last album. I was able to get a hand-drawn cover of Was Dead from him a few months back. Anyone else on here have one? Would love to see the covers. Here is the one I got...
