Tragically Hip
Tragically Hip
Alright guys, I'm extremely serious about this thread, no fucking around. Yes There will be Canadian jokes but I'm honestly telling you to check this out. A lot of you may know this band. They are a Canadian staple. We call them The Hip and they are more loved than maple syrup in these parts, have been since the late 80's. The best part about them is their fucking awesome. Check it out, opinions cruel or not always welcome. I'll lead you down some of their hits, if you like it's up to you to git er done from here. It's a good ride. I have a feeling some Racs fans may dig it:
"Courage" This was the first big hit for them. Some of you may know it:
"Ahead by a Century" This was the biggest Nation wide"
"Poets"
"Something on" - One of my favorites:
"Darkest one" THIS ONES FOR YOU ELDUDE!
"Bobcaygeon" (A small town in Northern Ontario, it's beautiful up there)
"Wheat Kings" No video for it, but take a listen anyway, its beautiful:
"Gift Shop" This one takes me back:
The Lead singer Gord has done a lot of other stuff with bands. This is one he's done with a St. Catharine's Local "Dallas Green." Great stuff:
"Sleeping Sickness"
Well, That's the tour, 7th son, Rival any other Canuck feel free to chime in.

Re: Tragically Hip
This is one of those bands that could fill the "Deep Cuts" thread...amazing catalog.
If anyone here has no idea who they are or has never heard them, download "Day For Night" and listen to it from start to finish...then "Trouble At The Hen House" My two favorite albums from them...
My favorite songs you should check out that were not listed by Hawke:
Grace, Too
Cordelia

Were you there?IamFrank007 wrote:Sweet show, eh. You hosers
That is up there with the best show I have ever been to. So happy I was able to make it inside the building. I didn't even find tickets until 5 minutes before the band took the stage...some angel from heaven came up to me and offered me cheap spare tickets...
I can't even explain the emotions I had walking into that building....

Re: Tragically Hip
I have recordings from all the shows this tour if anyone is interested. The band allowed for recording devices on the tour, as they always have,so no issues here...
Also have a 41gb 1080i video copy of the Kingston broadcast on CBC....it is amazing. Got the cable FM broadcast audio rip as well, if anyone is looking..
These will be played over and over in my house for many years to come. I can't believe I was in the building to be part of this...

Re: Tragically Hip
I have been talking with Rob since last week and mentioned the idea of my girlfriend and I interviewing the band for a podcast series she is working on at work on the history of Canadian music and he agreed....so really hope that it all pans out and we get to do that soon. So excited...
