Solely because they've changed their profile pictures on social media.
:?
They are just trying to pimp their merch. $30 for a re-issue of their "limited edition" tour t-shirts.

Some strange bundles up for Dan's new album.
A little too rich for my blood for a signed bundle.

I'm on the fence about pre-ordering in general.
I naturally gravitated towards the signed LP, which contains an exclusive variant, but there's no way I'm paying $67.98 plus shipping for it just because it's got a seat cover and t-shirt as well. No thank you.
Even the single itself did nothing for me, but I do really love the cover and design.

I wish you could just get the album signed and not the rest of the bundle. You can also order the indie exclusive color from bullmoose

I'll say it again, Keep It Hid is in my top ten. I can't imagine I'll find this collaborative effort as endearing but I fell for the signed album bundle anyway. Now I'm sitting here feeling duped because his design work by and large is pretty crappy, his shirt quality for shit, and a seat cushion a completely useless piece of tat. But like a dolt I bought it.

If some one is just looking for seat cushions....I have about 7 or 8 from the Star Trek Beyond Premiere stacked up in my basement...you are welcome to have one.

The seat cushion is one of the worst most useless pieces of merch I've seen. I mean you can use it... but why would I want a seat cushion with his name on it?

At this point we might as well start a Dan Auerbach thread all it's own, but for now here will do. Outside of The Black Keys I've followed Dan's solo career and production work relatively closely. I've got a handful of albums in my collection he's played on and or produced for, and it's definitely a mixed bag. There's the gems like Locked Down, Keep It Hid and especially anything and everything The Arcs put out and then there's forgettable ones like his work with Jeff The Brotherhood and Cage The Elephant. As for this new project? I'm interested to see where it'll go. Yes, the first single and accompanying music video were pretty cringeworthy. Yes, the pre-order bundles were ridiculous. However, I've got faith there's something worth hearing beneath Dan's shouts of; "Guys, I live in Nashville now" and "Guys, I'm one of the boys now. Look at all my old and respected musician friends."

I never know what to think about the Black Keys (and the members of) these days. I loved their early duo work (also later BlakRoc and Keep It Hid), but then they seemed to ditch everything I liked about them aiming for a broader appeal, so I tried to think "well, at least they've achieved the success they worked hard for," then they seemed to ditch the whole band. There are various other interesting solo projects, but they ain't Thickfreakness.
