Jenny Lewis / Rilo Kiley

Post by cwja »

This woman can do no wrong in my opinion. Rilo Kiley, The Postal Service and her solo stuff are all great. There is also her Jenny & Johnny project, which was a Live At TMR release. New album comes out in July, so I figured she deserved a Swirl thread!

I'd prefer new Rilo stuff, but that may never happen. I'll take what I can get.

One of my alltime favorites. I was fortunate enough to see Rilo Kiley play live 3 times. And Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins twice. I really loved the Jenny and Johnny record as well. She can do no wrong in my mind(well, aside from that last Rilo Kiley record).

Assume you're talking about Under The Blacklight? That one took a while to grow on me. Really liked RKives, but I don't really consider that a "record". I've never seen her solo, but she'll be at ACL this year. Looking forward to fixing that and hoping she does one of the after shows

The Jenny & Johnny poster from the Live At TMR show is still my favorite print they've done at TMR.

Yah I do mean Under the Blacklight. I don't like much of that. I loved RKives. "It'll Get You There" is one of my favorite Rilo Kiley jams.

Oh I did get a chance to see Jenny Lewis solo a few years back. She also played some songs with Johnathan Rice that night, but it was before Jenny and Johnny so we didn't call them that.

That is a great song. I was pleasantly surprised with RKives. It was described as almost a bunch of leftovers, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. Ended up being one of my favorite releases last year.

Absolutely love The Voyager. It might be my favorite thing she's ever done, including Rilo Kiley and The Postal Service. In case anyone else is totally obsessed with this record, here are a few random things that are available.

Cassette from Burger Records

Also, the record has its own wine. :D

Oops, didn't see this. Just posted the Rabbit Fur Coat LP in the pre-order thread. Trying to decide between the LA and Nashville show. Leaning LA, but I really want to see a show at The Ryman.

I saw her and the Watson Twins a couple of times on the original tour. Really great performances all around.

Got my LA tickets! When did Nashville become so expensive? Flights/hotels in LA were cheaper.

I'm going to go to the Nashville show.
Hotels in Nashville have sky rocketed in price !

They sure have! I really prefer walking to get around on these trips and everything in that area was really high. Even flights were 2-3x as much. I really want to see a Ryman show, but the church she's playing in LA looks really cool. Plus, the weather should be nicer and I can catch a Lakers game while I'm there. Should be a great show. I've never seen her in this incarnation, but I've seen her in three other ones and it's always been great.
