Savoy Motel

Post by snakeman_ent »

All eyes on SAVOY MOTEL, a new underground rock group from Nashville, Tennessee featuring Music City mainstays and Third Man alumni Jeffrey Novak (Cheap Time), Dillon Watson (D. Watusi), Jessica McFarland (Cheap Time, Heavy Cream), and Mimi Galbierz (Heavy Cream). Driven by the pulsating beat of their Maestro brand drum machine, (featured on many hits of the 1970s) Savoy Motel produces music that combines bad time vibes with an upbeat groove...a mix of outdated boogie rock, with a dash of European prog flavoring, covered in a thin layer of cold white funk.

After recording a trilogy of unreleased albums and honing their live act over the past year, Savoy Motel's debut single, "Hot One" b/w "Souvenir Shop Rock," is currently available as a white-label promotional 7", but not for sale commercially. Released by Savoy Motel's merchandising wing, Official Memorabilia, the single features two exclusive tracks due to be included on the band's long awaited debut album.

This Friday (tomorrow!), don't miss out on what is likely your one and only opportunity to pick up a copy of this elusive release as the band performs for free at West Nashville institution/head shop New Life Records at 9PM. Fellow Nashville newcomers Ornament will open the night.

Probably a few months late on this one! This was hard to get when it released....I knew it took me a lot of arm twisting to get into my jukebox. Also the band was pretty strict on one per person.

Does anyone visit White Swirl anymore? Seems like a ghost town lately . . .

Nonetheless, for anyone who cares . . .

Up on their Bandcamp page too. Thought I saw the LP up for preorder on RoughTrade a couple days ago.

Surprised I was the only one around here to notice this...then again, it was a completely random find. Snatch it up folks (or two).

I got to meet the band last month when they opened for Viva L'American Death Ray at Third Man Records. They were so good and so nice. Go check them out if you have a chance.

100 lemon yellow copies available from the What's Yr Rupture? bandcamp... wonder if this is a separate edition or the same as the "neon yellow" from Rough Trade?

I went ahead and order a copy to be safe-- really can't wait to hear this full record!
