Jack White's new band The Dead Weather played a special gig at the Glastonbury festival this afternoon (June 26), playing on the Park Stage at 6.45pm (BST).

The band, fronted by The Kills' Alison Mosshart, were billed as "special guests" on the Glastonbury bill, having announced yesterday (June 25) that they were going to play the festival.

The four-some were all dressed in black with White, on drumming duties, sporting an impressive main of hair that flailed wildly as he moved around to play his instruments.

They played songs from their debut album 'Horehound', out on July 13, including opener '60 Foot Tall', 'Hang You From The Heavens' and 'New Pony'.

The band kept chat minimal throughout the set apart from White introducing the band members, introducing Mosshart as "Baby Ruthless".

Later in the set guitarist Jack Lawrence took to the drum stool while White strapped on a guitar to play 'Will There Be Enough Water', drawing cheers from the crowd.

He and Mosshart shared a microphone to sing the song together before White drew more cheers for a series of impressive guitar solos.

The band hugged and bowed at the front of the stage, with White signing off by saying, "Have a good time, God bless".

well I can report that the Park stage is defintely one of the best Glasto has ever had, I did not go last year so hadnt seen it before.....the pity is I missed the Dead Weather, despite a text tip off from a fellow forum member as I decided to have a proper break from work and took no phone!!

I did see Bon Iver, the Low Anthem and Animal Collective at the Park and enjoyed all 3 but no DW

Anyway life goes on....nobody got hurt :)
