I think it's a bat
I wish I was purple, because I'm feeling blue. I'm not looking for love, but a good fuck'll do.

Definitely an interesting poster design. You have to wonder how much time Rob even had to come up with that. I like the potential of a bat-related theme and I really like the background and general ethereal look of this print.

Re: Gigposter: New York 09
I quite like the theme and the image...but like others have said, the border lines don't really do it for me either. They are somehow jarring and distracting.
"For beauty is nothing but the beginning of terror, which we are still just able to endure,
and we are so awed because it serenely disdains to annihilate us.
Every angel is terrifying." - R.M. Rilke
Not sure if Rob is drawing on that Rilke quote at all (he's just my favourite poet )...but I am intrigued by the images, and want to know more about them. I would say it is a bat face as well. I would be curious to know what the wreckage in the background is, and who the body belongs to.

I knew you'd have something smart and interesting to say.selke wrote:I quite like the theme and the image...but like others have said, the border lines don't really do it for me either. They are somehow jarring and distracting.

I also don't much care for the lines, a less busy border would have done. I like the font though.

What is on the rear of the creature? I cannot make it out from the picture? Could he nothing but the more I look at it there seems to be something there.

I thought it was flowers like roses or something all along, but now that I look at it, I'm not so sure.
Anyone recognize that background? Maybe it's New York specific?

Re: Gigposter: New York 09
The picture is of a proper victorian era woman with a shawl/mantle over her head. The face has been blacked out and the scary face (which I really don't think is a bat) is inserted. The thing on her backside is actually the bustle of the dress. I'm dying for someone to find the actual picture before the scary face was superimposed on it. The background scene is vaguely familiar...I'm wondering if it's a bombed out scene from World War II, but maybe I'm wrong.

So what is the paper like, is it just plain white stock?

I would classify it as "fancy-ass" paper.
