That's different. The Stripes songs were all written by him and expanded upon when Meg played them with him. For him to play them solo is just going back to the root of the song. For him to play them with other musicians would make them something else entirely.

You're not stupid for mourning and, as has happened before, it's perfectly alright for us to disagree about this. I can't tell you how much I regret never seeing any of those songs live, so I do feel the same as you there. But I'd personally rather never hear them performed if they're not going to be performed with Meg (edited to add: or Jack solo). And I do think that it would diminish the Racs if they were to play WS tunes. I don't see them doing it organically, my feeling is that it would be an obligatory thing. And that would make the tunes fall flat.
