Dean's guitar device thing

What is Dean using on his guitar in this video?
It seems like it makes a continuous sound when you press it on the string.

don't know what he is using but they have things called e-bows that do what you are describing.

i had a look at the wikipedia and realized the references to artists who have used the Ebow which then got me to thinking that this is very likely the instrument which was used very successfully to create a distinctive style and sound for Brian Eno on many of his productions

Just to name a few: Low by David Bowie; Unforgettable Fire by U2 and Another Green World by Eno himself

very interesting bit of backgrounding there... thanks man
