not exactly sure why but my favorite is:

You wrote our names down on the sidewalk
The rain came and washed 'em off
So we should write 'em again on wet cement
So maybe people a long time from now will know what we meant

i like all of carolina drama. to me that is the epitome of lyric writing - there isn't any out-of-place filler words (like doubled up words or made-up consonants)

"I'm not sure if there's a point to the story but I'm going to tell it again."

No matter how many times you hear it the story starts as if it's being told for the first time by someone who has told it a million times before. Like the old story tellers used to. That song should be in the hall of fame of song writing.

I've got a rabbit, it likes to hop
I've got a girl she locks to shop
The other foot looks like it won't drop
I had an uncle and he got shot.

And I know you won't deceive me
Like the rest and there's nothing you need to explain
You always were the first one to believe me
When I said to you girl
I think it's gonna rain
But I could be wrong

How you gunna rock yourself to sleep
When I give up my midnight creep
How you gunna get that deep
When your daddy ain't around here to do it to you...

This. I was thinking the exact same line before bedtime^

These lyrics have to be the most fun to hear live:

How you gonna rock yourself to sleep, when I give up my midnight creep, girl?
How you gonna get that deep when your daddy ain't around here to do it to you?
How you gonna do it alone? When I don't pick up my phone?
I'd rather give a dog a bone, but I'm not gonna stick around to help you out.

Every word of Carolina, yes, and Blue Veins, and, oooh yeah, that verse of Top Yourself... These also--

"I'm child and man and child again.
the boy never gets older."

"You don't understand me,
but if the feeling was right
you might comprehend me."

And I love when Jack cribs Beefheart's "had to much to think" line in Steady As She Goes.

I could play this game all day.
