Album: Broken Boy Soldiers

Post by MegBot3000 »

This topic is dedicated to a time when all was not fine, and up from the dingy sewers came The Raconteurs album Broken Boy Soldiers.

This might be a noob question, but:

How come the BBS 12" LP seems to be worth so much? I realize that you can't really find it on sale in online stores. The only place I've seen it sold is on ebay where I'm pretty sure one of which sold for over $100. How many of these were made and do you really think they are worth that much money?

I wish I was purple, because I'm feeling blue. I'm not looking for love, but a good fuck'll do.

Australian version (i.e. Saboteurs) on a BuyItNow for $19.99AUD (=$17.50 USD)

[ebay]220490737028[/ebay]

and another one (slightly dearer - about $25):

[ebay]200386830887[/ebay]

The normal UK or US versions don't seem to pop anything like as much as the Australian version these days - e.g. look at the Amazon Marketplace listings at http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listin ... dition=all. Rather strange.

There are recent eBay sales of the Raconteurs version at around the $30 mark

Sorry, should have clarified. It's definitely not with the Aussie "Saboteurs" versions, only the "Raconteurs" ones. Darn, I wish I would have screen shot the one I saw on ebay. It was ridiculous, no joke. I don't know, maybe there was something special about that one.

Aha, I found it! I knew I wasn't crazy. It says original US pressing but surely it's not worth this much is it?:

There's an online record shop (Auralexploits.com) that recently landed a bunch of the Aussie copies of BBS. Go here to pick one up. This may explain why so many Oz copies have surfaced as of late.

Didn't we agree that they have repressed the Sabs BBS? Does anyone have the runouts of a copy they bout directly after it's official release? i bought mine for like 10 bucks.

runout info from the Aural Exploits copies
XLLP196AUS-A-2 & XLLP196AUS-B-2

the 2 on the end seems to indicate it may be a repress ... but was there that much demand in Oz for the BBS LP?
