Is it possible someone put a fake label onto a record and broke it before shipping? I'd check carefully around and under the label and also maybe try to see what's on the actual record by "playing" a bit on an older record player.

Definitely the real hand stamped test pressing:

From what I've managed to see - the record looks to have the same run out text as the LP but the vinyl is thinner.
I also found a Beggars shipping note inside in the mailer.

Well the good news is that PayPal buyer protection worked out - got a refund after a 6 week wait.
I also returned the broken record but then
the seller refused delivery so have that for framing.
Best of all a nice person sorted me out
a replacement.
Thread can be closed up.
