Re: Life without a car
Hope the wife's ok. I'm thoroughly enjoying my first summer of proper driving!
I wish I was purple, because I'm feeling blue. I'm not looking for love, but a good fuck'll do.

Re: Life without a car
Chris, that is so scary! I am glad that all in the car are OK though.Kaber wrote:So my wife was in an road accident last week - she and the kids are okay, but the car is thought to be 'unrepairable'.
Life without a car is taking some getting used to.
Anyone else on here who lives without a car?
Personally I am totally spoiled and love having my car. I remember the days when walking was my main form of transportation or a bike. Now a days it is all about the car. I live in a smallish town where a car is more necessary than a large town/city. The public transit is pretty crap here. I have a few friends who don't drive though and live in metropolitan cities, it works well for them since their public transit is ace.

Re: Life without a car
Chris good to read that family is OK after that accident
As a person who was not using a car until his 28 and having a car the last 2 years I must say
that this damn wheeled thing changed my life
Well OK Computer changed my life a car cannot do this but anyway it was a major change.
Living in a town and working in nearby villages (sometimes in different school the same day)
then I must say that it sure is a great help. Saving time and not getting exhausted by moving with
buses taxis etc really changes the quality of life.
The only con I can think of is that I dont walk that much now
And I am a part of the pollution problem but when I get back at my home city
then I use the bus so that makes me a better person (or not?)

Glad to hear everyone is okay. I cannot imagine not having a car, if I lived in a large town with mass transit I guess it would not be so bad, but it would be a real culture shock to me. Will insurance not cover the replacement costs of getting a new one?
