This is a band called The Hicks that i watched in local pub last week from Wigan, north west,Uk. I've payed £30 watch bands that i didn't enjoy as much as this. Can't find any video of them on youtube as they are unsigned.

Nice. I remembered my trip to London in December 1993 or 1994 when Sliver was on the 2.place in UK chart and I bought the cd single in Virgin :-)

  Holy shiiit..."BESTIES WITH TESTESSS" ahahaa...thanks for that man, i needed that today! I'm obsessed with improv groups and this is definitely one of the funniest sketches I've seen in a long time too. You guys have to watch "Sound Check Guy" and "Front Butt" too, I was just laughing so hard by myself at the computer...sooo goood.

Plus in that video they have cloaked figures with mirrors for faces....just like in Die By the Drop. odd.

Her album is based on metropolis, probably a similar vibe.

Hey Guys,

Posted some Dead mans bones stuff in another post but I couldn't resist. I love this. It may not be everyones cup of tea but this has seriously landed a 3 thumbs up in my world. To me its like mixing Arcade Fire, Old Country, Johnny Cash, Gospel, Rockabilly, old eerie haunted movies with ghosts gouls etc and Old Rock n Roll mixed into one. This video I think sums it up: ENJOY.

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FEvF7qUf2Pc&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FEvF7qUf2Pc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

And this beauty:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zCjPYggnw_w&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zCjPYggnw_w&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

The thing I love about them the most is this:
They gave themselves rules for the recording process (akin to Dogma 95) to make sure that their mistakes were captured and integrated into the music making process. Examples of rules ranged from trying not to do more than three takes no matter how bad the outcome, not using any steel string or electric guitars, no click tracks, playing all the instruments themselves even if they had never touched them before. The intent was to keep focus on not trying to appear more sophisticated than they were or trying to hide where they might be amateur and instead finding a way to feature their faults by framing them with their strengths.
Also incorporated into the project was foley such as tin foil for rain, creaking doors, paper ripping for thunder, foot steps, screaming, crying, waves, werewolf howling, boat noises, crickets, etc.
I can easily say I think this is one of the most honest, charming things I've ever heard.

Haven't posted in a while but man, if they had a bootleg vinyl of this video I would buy 10 in a heart beat absolutely beautiful. Best version of it I've ever heard.

Mmm, love me some Monae. She opened her first tour here this summer. No one can stand still at her concerts.
