Trickster I just wanted to thank you for your input. I think you played a major part in rethinking the design. I know you wish we could of used the peppermint which I thought was brilliant but legalities would not allow it. Just wanted to take time out to explain that your input was invaluable and we really appreciate it. You obviously have very good taste.

I am now back home and read the threads again because I admit
that while away I reading quite fast and I was a bit confused about
what we are finally going to do.

Just to be sure:
We are making 2 editions of that poster
1. Black vinyl on red background
and
2. Black vinyl on white background

no logos of the forum no other lettering

Yes that is right black vinyl on red and black vinyl on white, we also removed the URL altogether from the prints.

Not a fan of the beachball-esque of the swirl.

I totally agree. I love the idea of the red background and if that is the only swirl we can use then I love it.

I dont want to be an ass or something, just trying to express my feelings.
I think that the white background makes the poster look really empty.
Keeping the red background on both and changing the vinyl color makes sense
as it focuses on the vinyl which is the main theme on a collecting forum like this.

Regarding the swirl I admit I like a lot the one I suggested/stole from internet
but if the artist comes up with a better one I am cool

I've stated before and I'll state it again, we CAN NOT use a peppermint swirl as our 'logo' or on any 'merch' that we might produce. Sure the Stripes don't have a copywrite on it, but because we are SOO closely tied to the Stripes in terms of why this site even exists we are NOT able to use it. If we were a Bon Jovi fan site we could use a peppermint no problem, but we're not. NO ONE can sell a poster that is essentially being passed off as a White Stripes poster.

I am 100% certain that when people get their posters in the mail they will be happy with them. You do also have the choice to buy just the Red background poster.

I too preferred the two red backgrounds with one black and one white vinyl...It seems we are in a minority since the white background apparently was the first choice consensus from what Higherlimits posted about this.

Why are people interested in a red background? It is such a strong block of colour. I would imagine it would be quite hard to place in a room. (Unless you have designed your room to have such a piece)

Half of the posters are now spoken for (with 2 of each edition of 22 being reserved in case of damage). That is a great start so thanks for the support folks!

I think I'd prefer both center dots to be the same colour assuming the latest pic posted is chosen. I picked the other one (beachy ball thingy) in the survey. And feel the same about the dots 'matching' for the beach ball.

What do others think?

Yeah, they should either match each other or match the background, as they should be "holes" and see through
