Re: Loretta Lynn - Van Lear Rose (TMR vinyl release)
To summarize:
TMR-063
(no UPC)
Label: Third Man Records
LP - 180 gram, in Stoughton tip-on sleeve
Country
Release Date: 8/09/2011
SRP: 18.98
On vinyl for the first time ever! This 2004 album paired the legendary Lynn with Jack White at the production helm and was met with overwhelmingly glowing praise (the average rating via Metacritic is 97 out of a 100, tying it with Brian Wilson's ''Smile'' as their highest-rated, non-reissue album of all time). With all songs penned solely by Lynn, the vibe here is both raw and heartfelt. ''Van Lear Rose'' won the 2005 Grammy for Best Country Album and the lead single ''Portland, Oregon'' won that same year for Best Country Collaboration with vocals.
Mastered directly from the original analog masters, pressed on heavyweight 180-gram vinyl and coupled with a vibrant Stoughton tip-on sleeve, the ''Van Lear Rose'' LP is one that no collection is complete without.

Re: Loretta Lynn - Van Lear Rose (TMR vinyl release)
i remember asking Jack on vault chat many moons ago if it was available on vinyl, his response- "Not fucking yet"
and every time i asked after that was-" Just be patient"
and then- " her granddaughter just left with the master tapes"
the anticipation is almost over! and I am still all giddy over this one!
Thanks again TMR! this is awesome.

Didn't he also mention having to "trade" the WS version of Rated X on that recent Loretta compilation for the Van Lear masters? It's got to be gratifying for him to finally get this pressed and announced.
"And the message is clear: if we want Jack White as our hero, he will entertain, but not pander. We have to accept all his flaws, whims, caprices and manias as a critical, sometimes uncomfortable, part of the contract."

Some of the family members that Mrs. Lynn totes around with her are pretty, er...interesting. Hope TMR didn't have to deal with them too much. The way they treat Loretta on tour, I would not be surprised if there were strings attached to the transaction.BluefordT wrote:i remember asking Jack on vault chat many moons ago if it was available on vinyl, his response- "Not fucking yet"

Re: Loretta Lynn - Van Lear Rose (TMR vinyl release)
I wonder if they will release a single (7") even though the album is pushing 8 years?
That can go now.

Yeah but didnt TMR tell us that colored vinyl sounds shit?
Don't believe the 60's was the golden age of pop. You glorify the past when the future dries up.
