TMR 058 - The Thornbills

Post by HappyDad »

From The Vault
The Thornbills – “Uncle Andrei” b/w “Square Peg
Michigan cousins, Jim Wigand III and Tamara Finlay are the two voices come together to create The Thornbills. Both ethereal and existential these two harmonize prose with a unique and saturated aesthetic. The themes addressed in their songwriting deal mainly with issues of perception versus reality and are executed in crystalline folk tunes.

Third Man Records presents two Jack White produced songs in their Blue Series of 7” records. “Uncle Andrei” is a mysterious ode, reminiscent of a Russian waltz while “Square Peg” is a driving and charming tune layered with the strum of the guitar and wail of the violin.
50 Tri Color versions of the 7” will be available from Car City records in Detroit, MI on November 23rd, 50 available in random Third Man mail orders, and 50 directly from the band at their record release show to be announced at a later date. In addition to the single, Vault members will be able to download a bonus track “My Star” off of the Vault site. The track will also come as a bonus to those who purchase the single on iTunes.

Pre-sales start Tuesday November 16th via the Third Man Records website - to ship on Tuesday November 23rd. Available on iTunes from November 23rd.

Thanks, will have to check them out to see if it's worth the trip to try for a tricolor at the store.

I must say, as much as the moustache has drawn my attention, I am most impressed by this star burst:

I have scheduled the day off work to go over and pick up a tri, my first in person retail tri purchase.

I think he will be there to make sure the one per person rule is followed. I am thinking of making the trip, it's only a two hour drive with a border crossing. Might be worth a drive, maybe Ben will take me out for lunch and a couple Faygo sodas.
