Leon Redbone- A Long Way Home

Post by ellisintransit »

Even as a kid I was always intrigued by Leon Redbone. Looks like he's hanging up his performing hat, but it would really be something if he were to do a Blue Room show.

"Jack White's Third Man Records will issue A Long Way Home, a double-album collection of Redbone's live and studio solo recordings, "in the near future." The selections included on the release will date back to 1972, three years before his debut album."

That sounds great. I've heard his name a few times over the last couple of years as I've been reading about other musicians, but haven't taken the time to learn about him. So this'll be yet another case of Third Man continuing my musical education. Thanks, TMR, looking forward to this.

They've done a John Prine/Leon Redbone show at The Ryman several times. What a great blue room recording that lineup would be...

Very excited for the release of this. Leon Redbone is one of the best and I would recommend listening to him sooner than later- he's a real character and a killer guitar player. Did anyone else notice this is streaming now (at least on Spotify)?

And Tidal. Guess I know what I'm listening to at work tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up.
