Third Man Board Game

Post by MichaelRox »

I saw this instagram post this morning by @aprilcsmith Image
http://instagram.com/p/xX4R--lrvY/?modal=true
I found a little info online here http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgameversi ... ition-1969
It's a board game from 1969 made by the Saalfield company which went out of business in 1977.
Has this been posted before and does anyone know if this is the origin of the TMR logo?
Time to go check Goodwill.

My thought exactly. I searched Amazon, ebay, and googled the heck out of it to see if I could find one for sale somewhere. No luck. New addition to my ISO list.

This is a very cool find. I wonder if Jack had the game around the house way back when or if he found the logo in a book somewhere.

Surely they didn't just use it without doing some legal bird-dogging. But there's no denying this is where the Third Man logo originated.

Well, now I don't know. I thought maybe this was an elaborate ruse but a book from 2008 does list the game "Third Man" from Saalfield (but there's no photo). So maybe it is real. I'm definitely intrigued.

Here is the owner of the game in the pictures. He posted about it in the Your Thrift Store Bargain Finds thread on Dec 2, the same day he posted the pictures.

Paid 99 cents for it.

The logo is ever so slightly different than TMR. I would think if it was from TMR it would be exact. Love the intrigue this is causing.

The person who posted it to instagram said it's definitely old. Found in an antique store in Indiana.

There are very few times #thirdmanrecords on Instagram doesn't make me roll my eyes and this is one of them.
I meant to post this as well, but didn't get a chance too.
I also never realized the image on Jack's bass drum is from the film. #noob
