Your Favorite B-Side(s)

Post by mysteriousprism »

Hi, as my this is my first discussion topic I'd like to introduce myself by sharing some of my opinions on the magic that are B-sides, Non-Album singles, etc... Specifically I want to hear what your favorite B-sides are too. I don't want to have a poll, it seems to easy and short. I want people to have options, and with that in mind answer your own way! I personally want to do it chronologically, my top songs from each era: 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001-2002, 2003-2004, 2005-2006, 2007-2008, and Vault Releases. You can do it your own way, top 5, top 10, whatever combination of anything, have fun!

Here's my top list.

1998
Let's Shake Hands

1999:
Red Bowling Ball Ruth

2000:
Lord, Send Me an Angel

2001-2002:
Red Death at 6:14

2003-2004
Black Jack Davey

2005-2006
Top Special

2007-2008
Cash Grab Complications on the Matter

Vault Releases
Signed D.C.

I trust you know your b-sides, but I did make a list, and if you want me to post it I will

Thanks,
MysteriousPrism

Some of the Stripes' b-sides and non-album tunes are seriously (almost) better than some of their album tracks. Lots of incredible, quirky gems.

In no particular order, just as they come to mind, my favorites have gotta be--

Cash Grab
Honey, We Can't Afford To Look This Cheap
It's My Fault For Being Famous
Who's To Say
Red Death
Red Bowling Ball Ruth
Good To Me
Shelter Of Your Arms
Lafayette Blues
The Beefheart trio
Black Jack Davy
and...

HAND SPRINGS!!!

Oh my gosh, how could I have forgotten that one? Makes me cry every time I listen to it.

Cash Grab is quite possibly the most perfect B-side to exist, so raw and fabulous.

I considered adding that as a B-Side, but it doesn't really seem to count, there's so few of them. It's great, but far too rare/unheard of... It's also from the Electric Lady Studios gig like the real There's No Home For You Here single B-side (Not saying the 10" isn't real) so I guess that's something people might not know.

They did release a version of Lovesick on the Fell in Love With a Girl single, have a gander: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktLT22ggDEQ

Thanks for everybody opinions so far!

You're welcome! The only song not on the list is Wheels on the Bus (Live) from the UGWNL Box Set because I've never heard it before. :)
