Jack White's Gretsch White Penguin

Post by EdwardWBjornson »

So.. Does he still has this ultra-rare guitar?
Used in the Icky Thump video, don't think I've seen it live anytime?

If anyone has any info on the guitar. SHARE! :)

What's different about his from a normal white penguin that would make it cost more, or do they all cost that much? Looking quickly on google has them only a few thousand.
(I hope you don't take this as me saying you're wrong, I'm just curious. I know you probably know more about Jack's guitars than most anyone.)

It's not a re-issue, but one of the 70 (citation needed) that was originally made between 56 and 59 or something.

What makes it so valuable is how old and scarce it is, jacks is from the mid 50's. a very rare bird indeed

you can see it in It Might Get Loud. when jack's showing the airline guitar, young jack is holding the white penguin. when young jack is stepping on the airline, the headstock is actually on top of the white penguin  he must love his $80k guitar

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. Wow, only 70 or so made...

He used it for the shows with Bob Dylan and I think I remember him saying he used it during the Hank Williams project. Maybe it's his Bob Dylan guitar?
