Personally? I think The Dead Weather and Blunderbuss are both pretty bloody fantastic - they're just a bit different is all. Lazaretto was a very disappointing album imo (only the singles were good!!) and the Racs just ain't up to scratch NEVER MIND I BOUGHT BROKEN BOY SOLDIERS AND THE RACS ARE GREAT TOO. I think, largely, the collective opinion of disappointment regarding anything Jack has done besides TWS is because some people can't really handle change, and they just want more and more and more Elephants and Icky Thumps and White Blood Cells, when ultimately that's not the mindset Jack is in, never mind Meg quietly quitting the music industry. We need to judge what he's doing on its own merits, and not on a "is-it-better-than-a-stripes-album" basis, because that Jack's dead and this is the Jack we have now.

I read an article discussing this today...
http://consequenceofsound.net/2015/09/j ... t-project/

I find the first albums he does with each non-WS project are great and the follow ups are a bit average:
I love Broken Boy Soldiers, but I think The Consolers of The Lonely is awful.
Blunderbuss is splendid, but Lazaretto is very average indeed, with only a handful of songs I like, as well a couple of the worst Jack has ever served up.
Horehound is easily better than Sea of Cowards, but I like Cowards better than Consolers, and Lazaretto.

Maybe that makes DW my favourite "other" project.
I don't know. Who cares?
Just keep the music coming.
Meg is my favourite.

I find it astonishing someone would call Consolers "awful" or say the Raconteurs "ain't up to scratch."

I've been away from these boards too long.

The White Stripes are Red.
The Raconteurs are Copper(Brown).
The Dead Weather are Black.
Jack White is Blue.
Jack is also White.
My favourite colour is grey.
The Black Keys are boring.

I've found a couple of things to enjoy about Consolers (via live versions), but I think BBS spoiled me and my expectations were too high. I just found it a bit of a snore. Not as bad as the Foo Fighters or anything, just kind of overblown. I still think they are a shit-hot band and capable of great things in the future.
Do you prefer one Raconteurs album over the other?

Hopefully they tour Australia one day!
Meg is my favourite.

Wait———————————————————————

Hold on———————————————————————————

Are you telling me Jack White was in a band before the Racs and Dead Weather??? NO. WAY.

Next thing you're gonna tell me is Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings.

What a weird thread....to try and compare musical preferences of one person over another. Next we'll be comparing Picasso vs Mozart and Thoreau......

Hahaha, really?
I can handle change and the music I like is hysterically eclectic but the White Stripes rocked my fucking brains out and the Dead Weather doesn't simple as that
Jack doesn't define my musical taste so his mind set is irrelevant to me.
My musical taste is defined by whatever music I feel like listening to at any given moment and spans about 400 years of musical history.

Only comment in this thread which matters.
Well Bikedo's comment about just listening to whatever grabs you is good too.
