I was thinking, awhile back, about how saccharin-sweet the song is and the fact that it's told from the young, possibly naive perspective of a child, makes it so. Well life rarely plays out that sweet, so I thought I'd put a spin on it to reflect an inevitable dark cloud that looms over most childhood friendships. Same song. Same key. But...minor.
