jasonbubalo wrote:Hello everybody, I just bought a sealed copy of the split color version of this vinyl on ebay, and the seller says I can be assured it is a split vinyl because of the small third man sticker on the back corner of the record. Is that true? Is there any other way to tell short of opening it? I would like to keep it sealed if possible as I already have a black listening copy. Thanks everybody.
the splits are noticeably lighter than the 180g black version.
that's a good tip
that, and the splits did have the little tmr sticker on the back. not sure how hard, or easy, that is to fake, but there you go.

AHHHH! I was following that auction when my daughter called me from Germany. I completely forgot about the auction until it was over... Congrats jasonbubalo I guarantee that I would have driven the price up had I not been distracted (I really wanted it). One of these days, one of these days...

Step 1: Create ISO with desired records on www.whiteswirl.com
Step 2: Wait for PMs
Step 3: ????
Step 4: Profit!

thanks for the advice everybody, yes I am a collector, I got the split white blood cells directly from third man, still sealed, and I bought an open copy of the split de stijl from a swirl member, so I needed the ST to complete my collection. I got the fever bad. Perhaps I will open it, just to gaze at its beauty, but like I said I have the black one to listen to. I will check and see if it is lighter than my 180g repress, it definitely has the sticker on the back and came with a third man bag.

Someone posting in the E-bay thread said this:
coldsoup wrote: Just for reference that first one is a genuine first pressing, (or as genuine as I can tell from an ebay snap) note the film strip is a much lighter grey. The second one is a 2nd press, there is also a third press and depending on how bad your upbringing was, there's a 4th variation based on inserts. In fact there are probably about 17 variations but it's important to go outside occasionally so I stopped at 4.
I was thinking I was nearly done with this release or am I wrong, I have read all the information, does anyone know anything else about it?

This is what I have so far:

SFTRI - Red label grey film 1st press
SFTRI - Black label 2nd press?
V2 ? not sure how to tell if there is different pressings on this
TMR 180G
TMR Split colour
Picture disc - bootleg?

are there really more than this?

Thanks for your input I have read that already

I forgot to include I have XL 2nd press.
Was hoping to find out if the 17 variations quote held any ground, I am aiming to get all variants on this particular release but will probably call it a day now if there are another 10 still left to find

According to that information from this thread and what I already know It seems I'm missing:

- Rainbo pressing
- XL First pressing

Which should be pretty easy to do, if there are more after that I'll probably just be happy where I am. Hopefully I just need those three above.

The Rainbo pressing is on White Label only as far as I can tell. And the second one from the ebay listing was a genuine first press, I believe, with light(er) grey film (although there isn't A LOT of difference between the shades) because I bought it.

I've had my XL copy since about 2001/2002 so it must be a first press. The matrix numbers on the run-out groove are

XLLP 149 A GRAZZ-THE EXCHANGE DAMONT
XLLP 149 B DAMONT

I would be interested in a second XL version if it there was one for sale????

Can anyone help me out with this. I purchased a copy of The White Stripes s/t album SFTRI pressing. The matrix runout is
SFTRI-577-A and it has red labels with white lettering. On discos it says the matrix runout should be SFTRI-577-A S-48018. Is this a boot or is it a legit pressing.

So rainbow press has S 48018? And SFTRI doesn't. Is that how I'm to understand it?
