Just got my red copy and found something kinda interesting. The cover art is SLIGHTLY different from the Rainbo pressing I have. Look to the right of the photograph of Jack and Meg and you'll see some lines. The red vinyl version only has THREE lines above the tire tracks, the Rainbo pressing has FOUR.

Just a barely noticeable shift in the printing. Cool.

My red copy also came with the original price sticker attached.

That is probably just based on how the sleeve was cut for that particular record, I doubt it's a different sleeve.

If the runout etching is "SFTRI 578 A", you've got a genuine first pressing.

I thought so... I thought the black without the Rainbow runouts were a second press with the original plates prior to switching to the Rainbow plant for future pressings... then again I'm far from any kind of authority on these, but wasn't that the conclusion that was drawn in the LR thread where it was discussed with Blackwell? then again my horrible memory may not be serving me well today...

I think the red and black first pressings were done at the same time.

I've heard it both ways. Maybe they did the whole "limited colored vinyl" thing with the original black release. I've seen that happen quite a bit. I'll look into it a bit more.
