The real question we should all be asking is... who is this buyer?

Maybe they are waiting to take delivery first a la the Australian.

Ok,
So the record is straight and there is no more mystery around Grim and his HP #7... (there are other rumors/mystery around besides me on this same topic).
I've had HP #7 now a few months. It was painted by Dave Buick. I bought it off a guy in the UK that had posted pictures of it on here (Kev). I bought it that same week he posted it.

So for the HP I paid in the $15k range. Dang shipping, insurance and customs duty hit me for another few hundred...ouch. The seller wasn't budging a whole lot and after loosing out on another HP deal a few months earlier, I decided not to mess around this time. I'm kinda glad it worked out the way it did as I really like #7 for many reasons.

I had three records that I flipped to another private collector to raise the funds, one very expensive one and two medium priced ones.
Based on what I paid for those records years ago I have $3700 in the HP #7. That's one way to look at it. The other is I could have probably sold them for $18-$20k if I had taken the time to sell them slower and in a more advertised way. So you could say I have $18-20k in it.... I just happen to have had someone who had made me a standing offer on the big one many times and all it took was an email to sell them. Those other records didn't have a lot of personal meaning to me, they were just investments I picked up along the way because I knew the potential was going to be high. Only one of them do I somewhat regret letting go of, only because I know I'll never see another.

I doubt you'll ever see #7 for sale again unless it is my wife or kids selling it. I doubt $50k would even catch my attention. Mainly because it's only money and if I had it, my wife would just spend it.

If you have any questions about it or the deal, feel free to ask... I'm an open book at this point. (just don't ask questions about my HP JW HYFTH, I can't answer them. Gotta keep some mystery going around here).

I'm hoping more of these types of private sales come public to help substantiate the value of items. As for other HP mystery, I can say that I lost out on another deal at $15k or above this summer and that I heard of one other private sale that has happened this year at almost that price, both I missed out on.

Oh yeah, I've tracked down the history of this including a funny story about the night it was bought told to me by the person who bought it at the show. It has only traded hands twice since then. From that person to Kev and then Kev to me. I'll share that info one day down the road when we're all bored and need something to talk about.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it...
-Grim

Thanks for the quick find, it would have taken me a while to find it I think.

Damn I haven't changed a bit. I forgot, it was 3-4 months until I shared. Talk about keeping a secret. Then again, I might have others that I've held longer...

Luke's used to belong to Stoutr if I remember correctly. Didn't Bikedo finally sell his to someone else here?

I don't believe actually Bikedo sold his. He fake sold it to Taro for €1, while Taro was on his trip around the world. But it was sold back to Bikedo due to a 1cm crease at one of the corners which wasn't disclosed prior to the sale.

He sold it to Mvickers03 (or whatever the username is). Another Mark holds Bikedo's HPLB...

The user that bought #1 has a familiar ebay username to me - I'll have to check that out a bit later
