I picked up a CD of this on MTV / 2 records today.
Never seen it before - anyone know much about the releases on that label?

Want it now.

But then, I want everything now.

Per Wikipedia:

"Get Behind Me Satan is the only album by The White Stripes to not be commercially released in a vinyl format. The reason behind it was because The White Stripes had intended to re-record Get Behind Me Satan entirely live in a New Zealand studio and wanted that to be the official vinyl version. However, the studio that they were planning to record it in no longer had the recording equipment to make it possible. As a result, there was never a commercially released vinyl of the album. Yet, there are only a few copies of the album on vinyl LP that were given exclusively to music journalists for review, which have since become coveted collector's items. They were released by both XL Recordings and V2 Records and each label had 300 each, making the total 600 and highly rare."

Not for naught but I think the Stripes have some unfinished business. 8-)

^^^ This may turn into one of those "useless posts," but I do swear I read an interview with either Jack or Blackwell saying the rerecording idea wasn't totally true. I'm going to ignore work for a few minutes and see if I can find it . . .

EDIT: Well, I must have been dreaming or drunk or both. Can't find.

"It won't be soon"? while awesome that it's going to happen, but sucks that it's become such a low priority... makes me wonder what "it won't be soon" means time-wise... 6 months? a year? two years?

I have developed a theory that the live recording of GBMS would have taken place in Melbourne, not New Zealand as the story goes. When I have a computer and the internet I will go into more detail.

Hi people,
Has anybody found any more information on the GBMS rerecording project?
I'd also like to ask for the current price difference between the US promo press and the XL press.
Thanks in advance!

Yes thanks, I'll do this. But I'd also really like to know how much you people would suggest that I should spend on this. Prices on eBay vary so much, some go for unbelievably low prices and others for far too much.
