I thought the video was the most interesting thing she has done... was bummed they edited out most of Jack's vocals on their song, but it was still a good watch...

Yeah, I listened to it four or five times this afternoon and then caught myself singing it later on.

Given the (highly predictable) internet outrage over this, just want to register myself in the "love it" column. (I even love just the idea of it.)

I really love that Jack was involved with this, even to such a small degree.
Yah! My wife and I watched it last night.
It's stunning. One of the best pieces of art related to music that I have seen in a very long time.

The spoken word parts are other people's poems? Can you link me to more about that Kali?

It's really breath taking. That's the best way that I can describe it.
The poet whose works were used for the spoken bits is Warsan Shire-- http://www.bustle.com/articles/156547-b ... ch-meaning

Couple of other really good articles about Lemonade--

- This is the one that made me sit down and watch it: "This One Scene From 'Lemonade' Captures What It's Really About"-- https://www.romper.com/p/this-one-scene ... about-9438

- "Beyoncé’s Mysterious Lemonade Turns Out to be a Visual Album, and It’s Stunning"-- http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/201 ... album.html

- This one mentions the song with Jack: "Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’ Is Breathtaking. But Is the Music Any Good?"-- http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2 ... -good.html
"Don’t Hurt Yourself,” featuring Jack White, boasts maybe the most exciting female rock vocals we’ve heard this year. It just happens that those rock vocals belong to, of all people, Beyoncé, who sings more passionately on this than anything we’ve heard from an artist so trained to be polished.

PK is on drums. per his facebook.

Also according to this-- http://genius.com/Beyonce-dont-hurt-yourself-lyrics

Edit: I knew I felt deja vu...
Kali Durga wrote:... this gives full credits for all songs and lists Patrick Keeler as the drummer on Don't Hurt Yourself-- http://www.stereogum.com/1873272/stream ... nade/mp3s/

Fats and Mark Watrous are on it, too.

After letting the record play a few times today, the "country" song Daddy's Lessons is really growing on me too...

Kind of refreshing to have something this cool come out of the "pop" sector.
I like it

I watched the whole thing last night on HBO and to say I was surprised is an understatement. That was completely out of the blue. To see that kind of honesty and sincerity in mainstream pop culture in 2016 is rare and encouraging. At least three of the tunes completely blew me away, "Don't Hurt Yourself" among them. And the others were above bar, to say the least. Impressive.

One of the main things I keep thinking since watching it is that I wish my 20 year old niece was into Beyonce instead of Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus.
